Looking for inspiration for the weekends ahead? Whether you are hunting for an immersive cultural experience, a bit of theatrical magic, or just a simple, free afternoon in the park, London’s calendar is packed with brilliant things to do.

Here is our roundup of the events currently catching my eye, from brand-new installations to long-standing favourites.

Theatre and Immersive Fun
  • The Lost Oasis: Step into a hidden world right in the heart of Trafalgar Square. It is running until 30 August at St Martin-in-the-Fields, with tickets ranging from £6 to £11. A full review is coming soon, but it is well worth adding to your summer list.

  • Suitcase Circus: If you have children aged 5 and over, head down to the unique Puppet Theatre Barge on Blomfield Road. Catch it on Saturdays and Sundays. It is £15 for adults and £12 for children under 16 (under 2s go free).

  • Pirate Pixie and The Mermaid: A whimsical choice for the 3–7 age group. Playing at Whippersnappers in Dulwich Park until 26 July, this is a charming production. Tickets are £17.50 for adults and £28.50 for children.

  • Norman’s Big Day Out: This one-day-only event happens today, Saturday, 13 June, at Jacksons Lane Arts Centre. Suitable for ages 4 and over, it is a great budget-friendly option at £10 per person.

Art and Culture
  • Julio Le Parc: Light. Colour. Action.: This is a must-see at the Tate Modern. It is a stunning, vibrant exhibition that runs until 3 May 2027. It is £15 for adults and £5 for 12–18s, while under-12s go free.

  • Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait: For something a bit more iconic, the National Portrait Gallery is hosting this beautiful exhibition until 6 September. It is a fantastic opportunity to see a different side of a screen legend. You can read my earlier write-up on the exhibition [here](see my write-up here).

Best of the Rest
  • London International Animation Festival: If you have budding filmmakers in the family, take them to The Garden Cinema on Saturday or Sunday mornings at 11:00. They are showing Brilliant Animated Shorts on a pay-what-you-can basis, which is perfect for ages 3–12.

  • Serpentine Pavilion 2026: If you are after a free and flexible outing, the Serpentine Pavilion by LANZA atelier is a must. It is open until 25 October 2026 in Kensington Gardens. If you want to know more about the inspiration behind this year's structure, you can revisit my previous thoughts [here](see my write-up here).
