What makes a house feel like home is rarely about square footage or carefully styled interiors. More often, it is about identity, comfort and the freedom to express who we truly are. This June, design brand Mustard returns with its annual Pride initiative, House Proud, a campaign that places personal storytelling at the centre of interior design while supporting LGBTIQ communities around the world.

Running throughout Pride Month, the 2026 campaign explores how people within the global LGBTIQ community define home, not simply as a physical space but as an emotional one. Through creative collaboration and charitable giving, Mustard aims to highlight the powerful relationship between self expression and the environments we build around ourselves.

A Campaign Rooted in Meaning

At its core, House Proud is about visibility. The campaign brings together a group of international creators who share how their living spaces reflect personal identity, creativity and belonging. Rather than presenting interiors as polished showrooms, the project celebrates real homes filled with personality, colour and individuality.

Mustard has partnered with creators including @a.modest.semi, @frido.garcon, @fettleandtinker, @aureliadotcom, @caseylyonsduseau and @k_ay_ee, each offering their own interpretation of what home means to them. Their contributions aim to demonstrate that interiors can act as extensions of lived experience, shaped by culture, community and self discovery.

For Mustard, this approach reflects a long standing belief that design should empower people to express themselves confidently. Storage pieces and furniture become more than practical objects. They become tools for storytelling, allowing people to create spaces that feel affirming and personal.

Supporting Global Change

Alongside celebrating creativity, House Proud also carries a significant charitable commitment. Throughout June, Mustard will donate 10% of all sales made to Outright International, a global organisation dedicated to advancing human rights for LGBTIQ people.

The partnership marks the third consecutive year that Mustard has supported Outright International’s work. The organisation operates worldwide, addressing discrimination, advocating for equality and working to protect communities facing human rights violations.

Becca Stern, Co Founder of Mustard Made, explains that the collaboration reflects values deeply embedded within the brand.

“We are so proud to partner with Outright International for the third year running, and to continue supporting the tireless work they do in protecting and advocating for the human rights of LGBTIQ communities around the world,” she said. “At Mustard, self expression is part of our brand DNA. We are excited to collaborate with our creative partners on House Proud and to share more about the impactful work Outright does.”

The campaign therefore balances celebration with action, ensuring that Pride Month support extends beyond messaging into tangible global impact.

Design as Self Expression

Interior design has increasingly moved beyond trends and aesthetics, becoming a reflection of identity and personal narrative. House Proud leans into this shift, recognising that the way people decorate their homes can mirror their journey towards authenticity.

Pieces such as Mustard’s colourful storage lockers and glass collections are presented not simply as functional furniture but as expressions of individuality. Bright colours, adaptable designs and playful details encourage people to move away from uniform interiors and instead embrace spaces that feel lived in and meaningful.

For many within LGBTIQ communities, home can represent safety, acceptance and chosen family. By foregrounding these experiences, House Proud reframes interiors as emotional landscapes shaped by resilience, love and creativity.

A Shared Commitment

Outright International views the collaboration as an example of how brands can use their platforms responsibly. Elise Colomer Cheadle, Director of Development and Corporate Engagement at Outright International, emphasised the importance of partnerships that combine storytelling with meaningful support.

“At a time when advancing equality, inclusion and meaningful impact for LGBTIQ communities globally is as important as ever, Mustard’s partnership with Outright reflects a shared commitment to creating positive change,” she said.

She also highlighted the significance of authentic representation within the campaign. By amplifying real voices and experiences, House Proud goes beyond symbolic gestures, helping to share stories of compassion, community and belonging across international audiences.

This intentional approach has become central to the collaboration’s continued success, strengthening both awareness and funding for human rights initiatives worldwide.

Pride Beyond the Month

While Pride Month provides the framework for House Proud, the campaign’s message extends well beyond June. Mustard hopes to encourage ongoing conversations about inclusion, visibility and the importance of creating environments where people feel seen and supported every day of the year.

The concept of being house proud takes on a deeper meaning in this context. It is not only about maintaining a beautiful space but about building a home that reflects personal truth. Whether through colour choices, furniture design or carefully curated objects, every element contributes to a larger narrative about identity and belonging.

From 1 to 30 June, every purchase contributes directly to Outright International’s mission to combat discrimination and human rights abuses against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people worldwide.

In doing so, Mustard invites customers to participate in something larger than a seasonal campaign. Each purchase becomes part of a collective effort to support equality, celebrate individuality and recognise the importance of home as a place where everyone deserves to feel proud.

House Proud ultimately reminds us that the spaces we create are never neutral. They carry our stories, our communities and our hopes for a more inclusive future.
