In a city that rarely slows down, The Island Studio offers Londoners something increasingly valuable: space to pause, reset and move with intention. With boutique reformer Pilates studios located in Hackney Wick, Kentish Town and Canary Wharf, the brand has positioned itself as a refined wellness destination designed to restore both body and mind.

Each studio has been thoughtfully created as a calm sanctuary within the capital’s fast paced neighbourhoods. Light filled interiors, carefully considered design details and intimate class sizes combine to create an experience that feels personal rather than transactional. The focus extends beyond fitness alone, encouraging clients to approach movement as a form of wellbeing, mental clarity and self connection.

A Signature Approach to Movement

At the core of The Island Studio’s offering is a carefully developed method centred on strength, precision and mindful movement. Small group reformer Pilates classes are led by expert instructors who guide clients through intelligent, technique focused sessions that prioritise control and awareness.

The timetable is structured around three distinct class styles designed to support every stage of the Pilates journey. Essentials introduces beginners to the reformer through foundational technique and guided movement, helping build confidence and body awareness. Flow, the studio’s most popular class, connects exercises into fluid sequences that improve mobility while delivering an energising full body workout suitable for all levels. Elevate provides progression for more experienced clients, incorporating advanced sequences and increased intensity to deepen strength and refine technique within a motivating environment.

Three Studios, One Philosophy

The Island Studio first opened its doors in Hackney Wick in November 2022. The flagship nine bed studio quickly established itself as a community focused space where movement and wellbeing intersect. Situated in Fish Island near Victoria Park, the studio blends accessibility with a premium Pilates experience, supported by industry leading Merrithew reformer machines.

Expansion followed with the opening of the Kentish Town studio in January 2025. Designed with the same calm aesthetic and intimate layout, the second location reinforced the brand’s ambition to make high quality reformer Pilates more accessible across London while maintaining its boutique atmosphere and personalised instruction.

The newest addition arrived in July 2025 in Wood Wharf, Canary Wharf. Conceived as a calming urban retreat, the space reflects the brand’s evolving design language, combining natural light, carefully curated interiors and expert led classes to create a seamless balance between performance driven training and restorative wellbeing.

The Vision Behind The Island

Founder Sol Bouille brings a multidisciplinary background spanning photography, fashion and music to the world of contemporary wellness. A former dancer turned Pilates instructor, Bouille developed The Island Studio after years of teaching, with the goal of creating the environment she felt was missing from traditional fitness spaces.

Her signature method blends classical Pilates principles with a creative, modern approach to training. Sessions are designed to be both challenging and accessible, emphasising safe movement patterns that support everyday life beyond the studio. Bouille remains closely involved in instructor development and programming, working alongside the brand’s Head Trainer to ensure consistency and excellence across all locations.

Music and design play an equally important role in shaping the experience. Carefully curated electronic soundscapes provide rhythm without distraction, while interiors inspired by Feng Shui principles promote flow, balance and calm. Soft lines, open layouts and intentional spatial design encourage clients to feel grounded from the moment they step inside.

Wellness Designed for Modern City Living

As London’s wellness landscape continues to evolve, The Island Studio represents a growing shift towards experiences that prioritise quality over quantity. By combining expert instruction, thoughtful design and a strong sense of community, the brand offers more than a workout. It creates a space where movement becomes restorative, mindful and deeply personal.

For many Londoners, The Island Studio has become not just a place to exercise, but an oasis within the city, one that invites consistency, confidence and connection through movement.
