Mamas & Papas has introduced Kudo, a new own-brand baby carrier developed in partnership with chiropractic specialists to support healthy posture for both parents and babies. The launch reflects growing interest in babywearing and a shift towards products that prioritise long-term comfort and movement, rather than convenience or aesthetics alone.
Created alongside experts from McTimoney College of Chiropractic, Kudo brings clinical insight into a category where ergonomic design can make a significant difference. The carrier is designed to support families from birth through to 36 months, with features that adapt as a child grows while helping parents maintain good posture throughout daily routines.
At the heart of Kudo is Mamas & Papas’ Posture AlignTM design, which integrates structured back support to gently guide the shoulders into a healthier position during carrying. A pelvic support panel transfers weight evenly onto the hips, reducing strain on the back and shoulders. This can be especially valuable for parents who use a carrier for extended periods, whether at home or on days out.
Professor Christina Cunliffe, Principal of the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, said that the design focuses on healthy development and genuine comfort. She highlighted how the supportive structure, including the lumbar panel and pelvic support, helps distribute weight properly so parents can stay close to their baby without discomfort. The goal, she explained, is to make that connection sustainable day after day.
Kudo has been designed with real-life parenting scenarios in mind. A large over-the-head opening makes it easy to put on and take off while holding a baby, and quick-clip magnetic connectors adjust to different body shapes. Pull-forward adjustments allow parents to fine-tune the fit without twisting or reaching behind, making it more practical for everyday use.
Mamas & Papas has also focused on baby comfort and development. The carrier supports correct positioning from day one, with a lift section for newborns and an adjustable seat base that adapts as babies grow. These features encourage healthy hip positioning, while a soft cuddle pocket promotes closeness. Recycled, temperature-regulating fabrics help keep babies comfortable in all seasons, and a pull-out privacy hood provides protection on the go. Fully machine washable, Kudo is designed for everyday life.
As babywearing continues to grow in popularity, Mamas & Papas is offering additional support to help parents feel confident when choosing and using the carrier. In-store experts have been specially trained on Kudo, and parents can book a free ‘Let’s Talk Kudo Carrier’ appointment as part of the brand’s Buying for Baby personalised shopping experience, available in-store and online. These sessions provide tailored fitting advice and guided walk-throughs of the carrier’s features and benefits.
Sonia Kelly, Product Director at Mamas & Papas, said that baby carriers have not evolved quickly enough to meet the realities of modern parenting. With Kudo, the brand aimed to rethink babywearing from the body outward, creating a carrier that delivers postural support, safe weight distribution and confidence for parents to stay connected to their child throughout the day.
Kudo complements the brand’s recently launched Ocarro 2 travel system, offering hands-free convenience alongside an all-terrain pushchair and an overnight-sleep-approved carrycot. Together, the products are designed to support modern families across a range of everyday scenarios, from short trips to longer outings.
The Kudo carrier is priced at £149 and is available to buy in-store and online from Monday 9 February. With its combination of clinical expertise, thoughtful design and practical features, Kudo positions Mamas & Papas at the forefront of ergonomic babywearing, offering a new standard for comfort, confidence and healthy movement for parents and babies alike.
