Families looking for an immersive and educational half term day out can step into a medieval fairytale at Leeds Castle this February. Until the 22 February 2026, the historic Kent estate will host a week of themed activities inspired by royal life, all included in the standard admission ticket.

A Right Royal Half Term Experience

During the half term break, children and parents alike will be transported into the world of medieval royalty, with interactive experiences designed to bring history to life. Visitors can meet characters such as Lord Hugo, Groom of the Stool to King Edward I, and Lady Mary, chief Lady in Waiting to Queen Eleanor of Castile.

Families will be invited to learn how to walk, dine and behave like royalty, choose their own royal persona and practise courtly dances and etiquette. The programme offers a playful and engaging way for children to explore medieval society, from noble knights and courtiers to peasants and servants.

The experience concludes with a special photo opportunity, allowing families to capture their royal day out.

A Full Family Day Out on the Estate

Beyond the themed activities, Leeds Castle offers plenty to explore across its expansive grounds. Visitors can wander through the famous maze, enjoy multiple playgrounds, take scenic woodland walks and watch daily falconry displays. With so much to see and do, the castle promises a full day of discovery, adventure and outdoor fun.

Stay Overnight in Historic Surroundings

For families who want to extend their visit, Leeds Castle offers a range of accommodation options across its 500-acre estate. Overnight guests can enjoy exclusive access to the grounds after the gates close to day visitors, adding an extra layer of magic to the experience.

The newly launched Knights’ Retreat provides family-friendly lodges inspired by medieval myth, with each lodge sleeping up to five people. Nestled within the estate, the lodges offer a comfortable base for exploring the castle and its grounds.

Historic Homes and Luxury Cottages

For larger groups, Battel Hall offers an elegant manor house stay for up to 14 guests, while Maiden’s Tower combines Tudor character with modern comfort and a rich historical past. The tower is believed to have been used by a Maid of Honour to Katherine of Aragon during her wedding to King Henry VIII.

Leeds Castle also offers six luxury historic holiday cottages across the estate, surrounded by woodland and countryside views. Properties such as Weir Cottage, Battel Cottage and Keeper’s House can host between two and 12 guests and are pet friendly, making them ideal for families travelling with dogs. Each cottage provides everything needed for a self-catering stay in a picturesque setting.

A Memorable Half Term Escape

With immersive historical storytelling, outdoor activities and a choice of unique accommodation, Leeds Castle’s February half term programme offers a blend of education, entertainment and relaxation for families. Whether visiting for a day or staying for a longer break, the castle provides a memorable way to spend the school holidays in one of England’s most iconic historic estates.
