Bio Picnic: Where Food, Nature and Sound Meet
FOOD & DRINKWHAT'S ONBEAUTY, WELLBEING & PARENTHOOD
On 22 May at Battersea Park, chef Denis Calmis invites Londoners to slow down, breathe deeply, and experience food as a pathway to restoration.
Bio Picnic is a nature-based wellness retreat where mindful nutrition, longevity science, biohacking philosophy, and sound healing come together in one immersive experience. Designed for relaxation, renewal, and nervous system reset, the event reimagines the traditional picnic as a multisensory longevity ritual.
Eat slow. Digest well. Think clearly.
A Chef Redefining the Food Experience
Known as a Sensory Longevity Chef, Denis Calmis moves beyond flavour into physiology, exploring how ingredients influence mood, cognition, digestion, and long-term health.
Born in Moldova and now based in London, Calmis became one of Russia’s youngest Head Chefs at age 21 while leading the restaurant at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. His kitchen received Time Out’s “Best New Format for a Museum Café” award in 2011. Working inside a contemporary art institution shaped his approach, allowing food to exist in dialogue with performance, perception, and emotional memory.
His experience at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal refined his technical precision and historical understanding of gastronomy. Later studies at Central Saint Martins strengthened his visual and compositional thinking, contributing to the multisensory language that defines his work today.
Calmis now combines essentialism, functional nutrition, and biohacking principles, treating meals as tools for clarity, balance, and longevity.
The Longevity Hamper Experience
At the centre of Bio Picnic sits the Longevity Hamper Experience, a Bio Hacking Picnic curated by Denis Calmis to support digestion, mental clarity, and sustained energy.
Each dish follows his philosophy of minimal ingredients with precise intention, focusing on biological impact rather than excess.

Through immersive frequencies and guided stillness, the session encourages parasympathetic activation, allowing the body to move into a state associated with recovery, improved digestion, and emotional balance. Food nourishes the body while sound supports mental and nervous system restoration.
The Rise of Sensory Longevity
Bio Picnic reflects a wider shift in contemporary wellness culture. Dining is no longer limited to taste alone. Increasingly, food intersects with neuroscience, nature connection, and mindful living.
Denis Calmis represents a new generation of chefs redefining their role. The chef becomes not only a creator of flavour but also a designer of human experience and wellbeing.
In a fast-moving city, Bio Picnic offers a different rhythm. One afternoon dedicated to nourishment, stillness, and reconnection with the natural intelligence of food.
